Private dance lessons with Rodrigo and Wendy

One couple, one problem, the whole hour spent on it. Book time with the owners of RW Latin Dance and work on exactly what a group class has no room for.

Chapter 01

What a private fixes that a group class cannot

A group class is built for the room. The count, the pattern and the pacing all have to suit twenty people at once, so an individual hiccup, the late weight change on your 3, the lead that never quite arrives, gets a quick correction and then the class moves on. In a private, nothing moves on until the problem is solved. The whole hour belongs to your dancing, and the teacher can stay on one habit long enough to take it apart.

That is why a private rewards a narrow question. Bring one turn pattern that keeps collapsing, one song you struggle to hear, one partnership that goes stiff on the second figure. Rodrigo and Wendy can stand on each side of a couple, one watching the lead and one watching the follow, and say what each of you is actually doing instead of what you think you are doing.

It also works for people whose evenings do not line up with the weekly schedule. If you want help with a Salsa On2 timing issue or a bachata basic before you join a cycle, a private is a quiet way to arrive at your first class already comfortable. When you are ready for the room, the group schedule on the classes page is waiting.

One hour or five, booked with RW

There are two packages, and both are one-on-one with Rodrigo and Wendy. A single Private Class runs one hour and costs $134.59. The five-hour Privates package costs $620.00. Those are the prices published on the studio’s Square store, and they are the ones you will see at checkout, with nothing added on top by this page.

To book, call the studio at (704) 449-8112 or arrange it through the studio’s online store. Tell them what you want to work on and whether you are coming alone or as a pair, so the hour can be planned around your goal rather than a generic lesson. A sentence or two is plenty: the dance, your level, and the one thing that keeps going wrong.

Pick one hour when the aim is narrow and you already know what it is. Pick the five-hour package when the aim has a deadline or several layers, like a routine to learn and polish, or a base to build from scratch before a trip, a wedding or a competition. Whichever you choose, you are paying for the teachers’ full attention, not for a seat in a room.

Chapter 03

Choreographed moments: weddings, showcases and team building

Rodrigo and Wendy choreograph wedding first dances, and they build them around the two people who will be dancing. One student, Lisa Rodriguez, wrote on RW’s own reviews page that they created a mom and son wedding dance that was “easy to remember” and made her feel “comfortable and confident.” That is the standard for a first dance: something you can do with your eyes on each other, not on your feet.

The same private format covers short showcases for private events, a piece to perform for friends and family at a party or celebration. Because the choreography is made for your song and your level, it can be as simple or as ambitious as you want. For larger milestone events, see the Paquete Dorado on the quinceañera choreography page.

Offices book them too. Matt Olin wrote in his Google review: “My coworkers and I did a salsa dancing team building experience and it was an absolute blast. The instructors made the dances so accessible.” If you are planning a corporate outing around salsa, call the studio and talk it through with Rodrigo and Wendy.
